Wiki Wiki

My grad class this week helped me think about Blogs to follow, wikis, and photo sharing on the web. There are several good (and several bad) blogs out there for libraries. My favorite for EOSC was http://librarystories.blogspot.com/ set up by Oklahoma Libraries.

Wikis are a great place to collaborate on documents. With feeling that life is "wiki wiki" (I'm practicing my Hawaiian too- means very quick), I am hoping to create a wiki for my staff to work on our Library Policies and Procedures that are in bad need of review. With simple deadlines for sections, my staff could probably renew and review this HUGE document within a couple of weeks (without even meeting).

The Photo Sharing sites are great. I got an idea of how a free photo sharing site might help us with our non-existent archival budget. We have been wanting to digitize for some time now, and voila, why not use a free site to get started and have back-up?? All we need is a scanner, of which we have two!

Class is great. I even signed up for a Twitter account (mmart072). I also learned that my last post would've probably been more appropriate as a Tweet! Sorry!

  1. Wikis are something that are definitely underutilized in education. The wiki for Library Policies and Procedures sounds like a great idea and it would not be too hard to do.

Photo sharing is so easy and available that it is crazy that people do not use it. I also enjoyed seeing more options than what I knew about.

I am enjoying Twitter as well!

  2. I'm so glad you are embedding links in your blog - this raises the power of the blog immensely. Well done!
